Milestones of the SEMA group of companies

SEMA Machine Tools was founded in 1988, when the company focused on selling machine components. Since then, SEMA Machine Tools has undergone great changes and become a global player in its field. The machine tools developed by SEMA Machine Tools are primarily sold abroad with an export ratio of 95%. Machine tools from SEMA are currently in use not only in Germany, but also in China, Russia, Japan, Turkey, the USA and many other countries.

Today:

  • about 200 employees, of which 26 trainees
  • 8400 m² of production area
  • 1600 m² of engineering centre
  • Over 600 SEMA machines delivered / export share approx. 95%

2014

  • Expansion of the production and assembly area by 1400 m² to 8400 m²
  • For the first time, machines are delivered to new markets such as Japan, Russia and Turkey


2013

  • Expansion of the machine park
  • SEMA celebrates its 25th anniversary
  • By the start of 2013, 40 trainees have completed their programmes, with another 20 still in training


2012

  • Large opening celebration with prominent guests from industry and sport
  • Successful open house with over 600 guests
  • Founding of SEMA Service

 

2011

  • New construction of a 1600 m² engineering centre, designed as a low-energy building
  • Doubling of the production and assembly area to 7000 m²; consideration is given to the environment here as well with insulation that far exceeds standard requirements

 
2008

  • Machine type GDC, the big brother of the HDC is delivered for the first time
  • SEMA celebrates its 20th anniversary

 
2007

  • The machine type HDC is successfully introduced to the market
  • Deburring machines are added to the portfolio
  • The headcount passes the 100 employee mark

 
2005

  • Acquisition of BRIO End Machining
  • Purchase of the neighbouring properties

 

2004

  • In response to the company’s success, it is split into individual areas:
    SEMA Maschinenbau GmbH and SEMA Komponenten GmbH

 
2003

  • Construction of the 3rd assembly hall
  • Founding of SEMA Precision Parts

 
2002

  • The number of employees reaches 50

 

2001

  • Construction of the 2nd assembly hall

 
2000

  • ISO 9001/2000 certification obtained

 
1998

  • SEMA turns 10 years old

 
1996

  • Construction of the first assembly hall

 
1995

  • 22 employees are already working at SEMA
  • A trainee is trained at SEMA for the first time

 
1994

  • Relocation to Traunkirchen

 
1993

  • Purchase of a decommissioned concrete plant at the current site in Traunkirchen

 

1991

  • SEMA participates in its first trade fair, ROBOT

 
1989

  • Delivery of the first machines developed and produced by SEMA
  • Founding of the machine tools department by Adolf Schacherleitner
  • Relocation to Gmunden

 

1988

  • Start of machine component sales in Bad Hall
